What We Believe
A confessional church belonging to the Christian Reformed Church in North America, Valley Church Believes:
-
The Bible is God’s trustworthy and authoritative Word to us. The Bible is our only reliable guide to what we believe about God and how we should conduct our lives.
-
The 'gospel' is the good news that through Christ, the power of God's kingdom has entered history to renew the whole world. When we believe and rely on Jesus' finished work and record (rather than ours) for our relationship to God, that kingdom power comes upon us and works through us.
-
The gospel changes people from the inside out. Christ gives us a new identity, freeing us from both self-righteousness and self-condemnation. He liberates us to accept people we once excluded and breaks the bondage of things (even good things) that once drove us. The gospel makes us welcoming and respectful toward even those who do not share our beliefs.
We affirm the following:
The Creeds Shared by the Universal Church:
The Apostles' Creed
The Three Reformed Standards:
The Heidelberg Catechism
The Canons of Dort
The Belgic Confession
