VISION

Together: Gather - Grow - Serve - Send

VISION STATEMENT

Together. According to Romans 12:5, “so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Valley Church is a covenant community devoted to one another in our love for Christ and each other.

We gather, grow, serve, and are sent best when we do these things together.

Gather. We are instructed in Hebrews 10:25 to meet together and encourage one another. We gather for worship weekly to offer our praise, prayers, and gifts to God. Coming together in small groups helps us build community as we share our lives and stories of God’s presence and power in them. In gathering, we are able to know and care for each other better.

Grow. In 2 Peter 3:18, we’re encouraged to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” At Valley Church, we believe God is never done shaping our lives. As disciples of Jesus, we grow in our faith through fellowship and practicing spiritual disciplines such as prayer, Bible study and meditation, and by providing accountability to one another.

Serve. Following the example of Jesus (John 13:14-15; Mark 10:43-45), we are to serve one another and our neighbors. Each of us is equipped with spiritual gifts to serve others (1 Peter 4:10), and we are called to give of our time, talents and treasure. We have opportunities to serve through the ministries of Valley Church and as we go out and engage with our neighbors and the community.

Send.
In Matthew 28, Jesus commands his disciples to “go and make disciples.” The Gospel or “Good News” entrusted to us meant to be shared. Being sent is about the proclamation of biblical truth, but it is also about loving people, serving in our community, being models of Christ’s grace, building authentic friendships with those who are far from God, and sharing our own faith stories.
